Stevensville Police Swears in New Officer

On Monday, December 23 the Stevensville Police Department welcomed a new officer at a swearing-in ceremony.  The Department's newest School Resource Officer comes to Stevensville after years of Public Service in other communities.

Officer John Ellington previously worked for the Lakeland Police Department of Florida before being selected by SPD as the School Resource Officer to the Stevensville School District. Prior to his service with Lakeland PD, Officer Ellington worked as a Deputy Sheriff. Officer Ellington grew up in the Tampa Florida area, joining the Marine Corps. at age 18 where he served for 5 years. Officer Ellington recently moved to Montana with his wife and young son.

"Officer Ellington comes to us as an experienced, trained, highly skilled professional," commented Mayor Dewey.  "We are extremely fortunate to have the opportunity to welcome Officer Ellington to the Stevensville Police Department." 

Mayor Dewey says that citizens can expect more hires to Stevensville's Police force in the coming months, as the Department looks to fill two positions, bringing the total number of sworn personnel to four.
