No person, corporation, partnership, company, association or society shall engage in business within the corporate limits of the town without first obtaining a license.
This licensing requirement shall apply to all businesses, including, but not limited to, all retail, wholesale and industrial businesses operating within the town as well as all home based businesses and businesses operated by nonprofit organizations. Any business licensed by the town shall not be required to obtain an additional license for conducting business at a temporary location within the town

The responsibilities of the Water/Sewer Billing Division include providing water and sewer service and processing billing for residential and business customers in the Town of Stevensville. The Water/Sewer Billing Division works closely with the Department of Public Works in processing applications for the following services:
Reduced rates are available for water And sewer utilities provided by the Town of Stevensville. Customers are eligible for a discount on their bill if they are a low income, senior, or disabled adult living in a residence receiving a Town of Stevensville water or sewer bill.

The Asbestos Control Program (ACP) does not regulate residential facilities; however, there may be instances in which a residential unit becomes a facility. A residence is considered a facility under one or more of the following:
SFD was Founded in 1901 with a roster of roughly 10 men, a hook and ladder cart and two hose carts. Today The Stevensville Fire Department consists of nearly 50 volunteers who commit over 5,500 hours to making Stevensville a safer and better place to live and work. Please take some time to learn about who we are, how we train, and a little bit of our history.
The Stevensville Fire Department participates in the Ravalli Fire Training Cooperative Firefighter Academy. The Academy is held each spring and teaches new recruits the fundamentals of firefighting. When the recruits complete the Academy they have gained a working knowledge of the tasks they are expected to perform and the skills necessary to complete them. Graduating recruits are nationally certified firefighters.
The Fire Departments Headquarters are located within Town Hall. This is where all administrative and departmental meetings take place. The office staff consists of the Volunteer Fire Chief and Assistant Chief and a part-time Administrative Assistant.

Discharge of legal “safe and sane” fireworks is allowable ONLY on July 3 from 6:00pm to Midnight and July 4 from 8:00am to Midnight. Fireworks are prohibited in all parks and Town owned properties.
Ensure you are using legal fireworks by purchasing them from state-licensed stands. Fireworks are on sale in Stevensville from June 24 to July 5 ONLY. Or as an alternative, the Town invites all residents to enjoy a professional fireworks show in the region.
Stevensville Fire Department holds public CPR Training on an as needed basis. Please contact us if you are interested in a class. We will need information such as the number of participants, and the time frame in which you'd like to hold the class. We will then schedule a class based on the availability of an instructor.

Establishing and communicating general policies and procedures that help make travel within the town limits as safe as possible and to minimize economic hardship during and after winter storm events is the centerpiece of the Town of Stevensville’s revamped snow response plan.
We all know how unpredictable the winter weather can be here in Stevensville. The Streets & Transportation Division has developed a Snow Removal Plan to establish how each street is plowed. The Priorities are shown on the Snow Plowing Map found in the links below.

The Town of Stevensville (ToS) is seeking proposals from qualified, knowledgeable, and experienced companies to provide Information Technology (IT) Services to support our staff. We encourage companies to submit the most comprehensive proposal possible offering the highest quality of service. The nature of the service will be ongoing support and coordination with the Town Hall staff to ensure proper implementation of new technology, general management and operation, along with maintenance and/or troubleshooting of existing systems.
The Stevensville Police Department has learned of an email scam aimed at deceiving people out of money by claiming to represent the Town of Stevensville. Police Chief James Marble commented that “We believe that other members of our community have been targeted in the same manner”. Chief Marble is asking the citizens of Stevensville to join us in helping raise awareness about this type of scheme to prevent others from being conned out of their hard-earned money.
The Town of Stevensville invites proposals to provide services to the Town for the clearing of snow and ice on sidewalks located in the public right-of-way that poses a safety hazard.
Stevensville Municipal Ordinance 138, adopted on April 25th, 2013 authorizes the Town to take action to enforce snow removal in cases of non-compliance.
The Town may engage one or more individuals/businesses (independent contractors) throughout the 2018-2019 snow season (October 1 – April 30) to remove snow and ice from the public right-of-way.
The US National Weather Service Missoula Montana is predicting significant snowfall for the Bitterroot Valley. Snow levels may reach 6-10 inched by Tuesday afternoon.
To aid in snow removal operations, please observe the following parking restrictions:
•RESIDENTIAL AREAS: Please only park on the street if you have no other option. This is especially important in the Smith & Dayton neighborhoods.
•COMMERCIAL AREAS: NO PARKING from 2am-6am on the following streets;

(Stevensville Montana, February 25, 2019) – Mayor Brandon E. Dewey is urging residents to be prepared for heavy snow, strong winds and hazardous travel as the Bitterroot Valley will be under a Blizzard Warning until 9:00 p.m. Monday night and a Winter Storm Warning until 11 a.m. tomorrow.
Blizzard conditions, combined with snowfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour will continue to produce hazardous driving conditions with limited visibilities. Falling temperatures and wind chills could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes.
Stevensville School District and Lone Rock School have announced that classes are canceled on Tuesday February 26th, due to hazardous road conditions.
The North Valley Public Library will also remain closed Tuesday.
Stevensville Mayor Brandon Dewey is advising residents to limit their travel while street conditions rapidly deteriorate. Snow fall has outpaced ongoing snow removal efforts and streets have accumulated levels that make driving conditions dangerous.
Mayor Dewey says that Public Works crews have been out since 5am Monday addressing the overnight snowfall combined with today’s accumulations since the full city plow was achieved on Sunday night. Dewey says that all available resources have been deployed, maximizing utilization of Public Works resources.

The Ravalli County Commissioners have declared an emergency in Ravalli County due to the record snowfall since Sunday Night. Mayor Brandon E. Dewey has declared essential travel only for the Town of Stevensville effective at 5:00pm Wednesday. The travel restrictions will be in effect until further notice so that crews can be deployed tonight for substantial snow removal operations. The Town will release further updates as soon as possible.

(Stevensville, Montana) In the aftermath of one of the worst snow events in recent history, the Town of Stevensville has shifted from emergency response priority plowing to clean-up efforts. As the Town moves forward with snow removal clean-up, Mayor Brandon Dewey asks citizens for their continued support and understanding as cleaning up this record-breaking snowfall will take some work and several days to address.
STEVENSVILLE, MT – The Town of Stevensville has made significant headway over the past 48 hours as snow removal and clean-up efforts began on Wednesday night and continued into the early morning hours of Friday. The essential travel only advisory expired at 5:00am, classes and activities at Stevensville Schools have resumed and Main Street is open for business Friday morning.
Snow removal teams will be in residential areas to continue snow clean-up activities beginning at 8:00 am Tuesday, March 5th continuing through Wednesday, March 6th. The streets that will be the focus of the clean-up efforts include: Barbara, Heritage, Turner, Valley View, College, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, and St. Mary’s Drive – see map.

Stevensville, MT – The Town of Stevensville is asking residents to implement water conservation practices beginning Thursday, June 20th at 5:00pm. On Monday morning, the public works department began addressing the failure of a well pump in the Town’s well field adjacent to the Twin Creeks neighborhood. Public Works Director George Thomas reported that the pump failure was due to sand in the well. A separate well had failed a second time nearly a year ago because of the same problem and is still not operational at this time.
Town Council President Bob Michalson has canceled the regularly scheduled Town Council Meeting for 6/27/2019. Mr. Michalson states that the Town Council Rules were not followed in publishing the agenda and council packet.
Water use restrictions that were implemented on Thursday June 20th, remain in effect due to an additional well-pump failure in the Twin Creeks Well-field. The failure occurred in the morning hours of June 28, 2019.
Public Works reported at 4:00am Saturday morning that the reservoir was just over half of capacity. As of noon Saturday, storage had decreased and was holding at half. Pumps are producing approximately 400 gallons per minute.

The Town of Stevensville is offering free admission to households on the water system who are impacted by the current water use restrictions. Here’s the details:
⛱ You must show proof of residency, by providing any utility bill or other documentation that shows you currently reside in city limits or have city water services. Offer is good for all members in a single household.
On Monday, July 1st, contractors were on-site at the Twin Creeks Well Field installing a pump into one of the high-production wells. By the end of the day, that pump had been installed and Public Works began re-filling the critically low reservoir. Filling the reservoir continued into Tuesday, and officials are comfortable with the storage capacity. A pump will be installed in another well on Wednesday. This will bring a total of 4 wells back on to the system, which will adequately supply both storage, and system use.
Water restrictions have been in place since June 20th, and the Stevensville Public Works Department has determined that water restrictions can be lifted effective 12:01a.m. Friday, July 5th.
Standard watering regulations will remain in effect, however. Standard sprinkler regulations will continue be enforced and residents and businesses are required to set their sprinkler timers to water within the allowed days and times. Those who begin watering on Friday, must comply with the above regulations.

Town of Stevensville crews are starting leaf pickup activities on City streets on Monday, Nov. 4, with work beginning in the areas north of 4th Street and west of Pine Street.
Leaf pickup is scheduled to continue throughout the week. The crews will begin on Stevensville's North Side, then moving south to the Smith and Dayton Neighborhoods, and finishing Twin Creeks and Creekside Neighborhoods. Streets cleared of leaves provide safer driving conditions during winter snow and ice. Removing leaves from the streets also helps prevent clogged storm drains.

STEVENSVILLE, MT – The U.S Department of Transportation announced on Friday that it will award $650,000 in an airport infrastructure grant to The Town of Stevensville for an apron replacement project at the Stevensville Municipal Airport. This grant is part of an $10.8 billion investment by the Trump Administration in more than two thousand airports across the US for safety and infrastructure improvements since January 2017.

The Town of Stevensville will have a number of closures related to the holidays. Stevensville Town Hall will be closed at 3:00pm on Tuesdays, Dec. 24 and 31, and all day Wednesdays, Dec. 25 and Jan. 1, in observance of the Christmas and New Year’s holidays.
The Stevensville Town Council is not scheduled to meet on Thursday, Dec. 26th. Council meetings will resume on Thursday, Jan. 9, with a 7:00 p.m. regular meeting. Town Council meetings are held in the Town Council Chambers in Town Hall, 206 Buck Street.

First: The Town's Public Works Department offers free tree drop-off for residents Monday, Dec. 30, through Friday, Jan. 17. Once the decorations are removed, residents can place their fresh-cut trees at the designated drop off zone in Lewis & Clark Park, 400 W. Second Street.

Just like that, the year 2019 is behind us and we welcome not only a new year, but a new decade as well. With any transition or change in time, many of us take time to reflect on the previous year. Hopefully, that reflection leads us to strive to do better than the year before. We ought to use our experiences, both good and faulty, as tools to venture towards success in whatever it is that we want to be or do.
Water & Sewer customers in Stevensville may have noticed an inaccurate usage reading on their January 2, 2020 bill. According the Town’s Finance Department, the software system that manages the billing functions for the Town’s water and sewer utilities incorrectly interpreted meter reading data and billed all customers at their base rate.
While the issue won’t affect customers that did not exceed their base usage allowance for the month of December, customers who used water exceeding their base allowance will receive a follow-up bill during the week of January 6th.
Administrative offices in Stevensville's Town Hall will be closed on Friday, January 31st. Although offices will be closed, it won't be a day off for the Town's staff and elected officials. Instead, work sessions will be held throughout the day to facilitate capacity building within the organization, as well as critical strategic planning that the Town Council asked the Mayor and administration to conduct trough the Town's budget process last summer.
High winds gusting up to 50 miles per hour on Saturday caused power outages, along with property damage, all over the Town of Stevensville. While crews from NorthWestern Energy have been successful in restoring power to the business districts and neighboring residential areas, residents who live on the south side of the town, especially west of Main Street, continue to go with out power. As of 4:30pm Saturday. officials with NorthWestern Energy tell Town Hall that residents should expect to be with out power for an additional 4-6 hours.
Following severe winds gusting over 50 miles-per-hour on Saturday, Town officials will begin implementing clean-up operations this week, focusing on the removal of debris from downed tree's. Crews will re-visit those scenes that they were dispatched to throughout the Town during Saturday's storm. There, they will perform a more thorough clean-up, as Saturday's objective was only to remove hazards and continue the delivery of services. Clean-up is expected to take the entire week. Crews will focus on the clean-up of public spaces first, with attention to streets, alleys and parks.

These positions are currently considered temporary, however it is possible that one or both positions are retained permanently based on funding availability. March 16, 2020 - Beginning Tuesday, March 17 lunch and breakfast will be delivered to students. School kitchen staff will prepare sack meals. Burnt Fork Estates is a planned residential and commercial addition to the Town of Stevensville. The property lies northwest of the intersection of Middle Burnt Fork Road and Logan Lane, abutting the first phase Of Creekside Meadows. Swimmers and water enthusiasts will again be able to splash at Stevensville's City Pool starting Monday, June 29th. The long-awaited opening will kick off Monday morning with the first swim lesson session of the season, with open swim available to the general public in the afternoon. Modifications in programming and capacity have been made in response to directives from local and state public health officials to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Those changes will included more frequent sanitation and fewer students enrolled in each session of group swimming lessons.

At the Town, annual budget deliberations speed up as we enter the 3rd quarter of 2020. On June 30th, Mayor Brandon Dewey rolled out his proposed 2021 budget, which covers the fiscal year between July 1, 2020 and June 30, 2021. The Town Council now will review that budget and hold a public hearing on July 9th. By state law, the Town has to adopt a balanced budget before the by the later of the first Thursday after the first Tuesday in September or within 30 calendar days of receipt of the municipality’s taxable value from the Montana Department of Revenue.

Baby makes four for the family of Stevensville Mayor Brandon Dewey and his wife Tasha.
The couple’s second child, a girl, was born at 11:22 am on Friday. Named Bryar Marie Dewey, the baby weighs 8 pounds 9 ounces and is 20 inches long. Mrs. Dewey and baby Bryar are in good condition at Missoula’s St. Patrick Hospital.

Mayor Dewey spent the week working with each member of the Town Council in order to forge a way forward for public meetings held by the Town. STEVENSVILLE, MT — Get your scarecrows ready! By popular demand, the Stevensville Parks & Recreation Department will host the 2020 Stevensville Scarecrow Festival starting October 16th. The event, in its 15th year, will be scaled back due to public health concerns with the COVID-19 pandemic. We host two separate categories for scarecrows: 1) kids, and 2) businesses and non-profits, individuals, and families.
The Public Works Assistant is a full-time support position to the Public Works Supervisor. The position performs variety of semi-skilled and skilled departmental maintenance duties and performs work in the operation of specialized equipment and vehicles in the operations and maintenance of the Town’s cemeteries, parks, streets, water and wastewater systems.
This position has an on-call/as needed status to assist with manpower coverage of the Department.

The Town of Stevensville today [Friday] announced its construction schedule for the next year with welcome additions to infrastructure initiatives that will continue to help the community build.
Mayor Brandon Dewey says it includes about $150,000 worth of infrastructure work that was already planned. He says it is adding an additional $350,000 in street improvements and sewer infrastructure.
It has been just over two weeks since Mayor Brandon Dewey announced a slate of infrastructure projects throughout the community that are scheduled through 2021. Those projects are already quickly coming to fruition with the Town Council’s approval of extending a sewer main south along Park Avenue to Middle Burnt Fork Road, and finalizing plans for improvements on E 3rd Street and E 5th Street.

At their Committee of the Whole Meeting on Thursday, January 21, the Stevensville Town Council participated in discussions with representatives of the Stevensville Community Foundation that could lead to the Town of Stevensville managing the operations of a new community center being proposed by the foundation.The facility would be located at the corner of Middle Burnt Fork Road and Park Avenue on a 3.5 acre property already owned by the foundation.
The Town’s Street Division crews have been preparing for the inevitable return of winter and have already dealt with a couple of shots of snow. But now is a good time to provide an overview of the Town’s snow response plan.
“While snow response efforts are always challenging, we hope this information can help our citizens prepare for more winter weather,” says Mayor Brandon Dewey. “The heart of snow response plan is really pretty simple: More plowing in more areas sooner.”
Here’s a look at the key components of the Town’s snow response plan:
The Town of Stevensville is currently working on determining the feasibility of annexing the “Wye” area located about 1.5 miles northeast of Stevensville, Montana at the intersection of Highways 93 and 269. This area is primarily composed of commercial buildings with a few small to medium sized residences. The purpose of this study is to determine what infrastructure will be required to serve this area and the cost and impact of infrastructure expansion. This determination will be based on the current fiscal year population and estimated future water demands and wastewater flows.
The proposal is to delete 16 lots in the current Phase 3 and to rezone from R-1 to R-2
eleven lots in the revised Phase 3 to allow for two-family town homes. The total area to be rezoned is
3.53 acres, or about 17 per cent of the land areas in Phases 2 and 3. The rest of the development will
remain R-1 single-family and the overall density will remain the same as it was with the original
subdivision approval. Approximately 1300 linear feet of roadway and utilities will then not have to be
The Stevensville Town Council heard a proposal from the Stevensville Civic Club at the Council's regular meeting on Thursday, February 25th, that sought approval to locate a splash pad in Lewis & Clark Park. The project was already endorsed by the Town's Park Board and Parks and Recreation Director.
Ilamar Properties, LLC has purchased the property which is currently zoned R-1 and would like to change the zoning to R-2 to allow for the building of multi-family development.
Subdivision refers to the division of land into two or more lots by a plat and recorded with the county clerk and the register of deeds. Subdivisions are regulated under Chapter 10 of the Stevensville Development Code, with the goals of promoting orderly growth and development and ensuring adequate streets, utilities, and building sites.
Major Subdivisions require review and approval of a preliminary plat by the Town Council. Montana Law and Stevensville Code spell out the procedures for obtaining approval of a subdivision plat.

Officials with the Town of Stevensville's Public Works Department are asking residents to check that their automatic sprinkler timers are set to the correct watering schedule.
"We receive a lot of calls about non-compliance from concerned citizens in the community," said Laura Miller, the Town's Utilities Clerk. "When we make contact with those who are not observing the hours we often find that their timer was not set to the right time or schedule."
The Town of Stevensville announced Monday the launch of a new, improved bill pay service with a user-friendly portal and enhanced features to safely view and pay bills online.
The system officially launched on July 26, 2021.
In addition to being able to make a payment online any time and from anywhere, customers will also have the option to go paperless and/or sign up for notifications via text message.

SPD C.A.R.E.S is a community and relationship-oriented program focused on providing educational and mentoring opportunities for youth in the Stevensville community. STEVENSVILLE — To coincide with the start of the new school year, Chief Mac Sosa and the Stevensville Police Department would like to offer staff, students and parents, as well as area motorists, several important safety tips for those traveling to and from school or driving through a school zone.

On Thursday, October 14, the Town Council will consider Mayor Brandon Dewey’s appointment of local attorney Greg Overstreet as the new City Attorney for the Town of Stevensville.
In May, current City Attorney Scott Owens notified the Mayor and Town Council that he would not be renewing his contract with the Town, which expired in July. Owens said that his family had relocated from Missoula to Helena, making it challenging for him to fulfill his obligations to Stevensville.
The Town of Stevensville continues to make progress on its work to acquire permits and water rights for the Twin Creeks Well Field, the primary source of domestic water for the Towns residents.
On Thursday, October 14th, the Town Council will be asked to approve a scope of work for NewFields, a hydrology firm that the Town Council approved a contract with back in May. NewFields was hired to assist the Town’s water rights attorney and engineers in a Global Permit Application with Montana DNRC for the Twin Creeks Well Field and Well 1, located downtown.

Hello Everyone, the 4th of July is approaching and here at the town of Stevensville we have some news to pass along.
After speaking with coordinators for the 4th of July celebration this year there will not be a fireworks show due to funding. This year they collected $5,000.00. Last year the 4th of July fireworks cost the non-profit organization $8,000. This year the fireworks would have cost them $16,000. So, due to fundraising falling short and inflation prices on fireworks this years show will not be happening.

Stevensville Public Works Department is looking for a qualified individual to join the team.
Candidates must possess certifications for Water, Distribution and Wastewater. Additional skills desired are equipment operation, plumbing, trouble shooting, utility locating and a CDL.
The Town of Stevensville has been working diligently to improve both pedestrian and vehicular traffic safety on Main Street. Signs have been placed at crosswalks, along with yellow crossing flags for pedestrians to use at the crosswalks.
Additionally, Town Council passed an ordinance where J-Turns are prohibited along Main St. Signs are being posted today and enforcement will begin next month to allow for a warning and education phase. There was already an ordinance in place that prohibits U-Turns at intersections along Main St.
